IR348 file not being generated for transmitting to IRD (New Zealand)

The IR348 report is used to advise IRD of the pay details for those employees working for the company during a calendar month. This information can be sent to IRD as a paper report or as a file through electronic filing.

When creating the IR348 report and saving it to your PC as a file for submitting online, certain settings can cause the file to not be created.

If the file path is too long or it has spaces in the path name, then the payroll software will not create the IR348 file and nothing happens when the Create File button is clicked.

Examples of path names that could cause this to happen are as follows:

• C:\Payrollv\Payroll2010\January\PayrollReports\IRD\IR348\IRFILE.CSV
• C:\Payrollv\Payroll 2010\January\Payroll Reports\IRD\IR348\IRFILE.CSV

To assist the payroll software to create the electronic file, shorten the file path and/or remove any spaces that are in the path name such as in the example below.

• C:\IRDFiles\IRFILE.CSV
