Processing payroll giving deductions (New Zealand)
Payroll Giving allows employees to "give as they earn" by making donations directly from their pay to approved Donee organisations. For every dollar an employee donates they receive a third back as a tax credit in the same pay period.
MYOB Exo Payroll is able to process Payroll Giving through Current or One Off pays.
If employee wants to make a regular donation in each pay period, the Payroll Giving deduction should be added to that employee's Standard Pay. If the employee is wanting to do "one off" or irregular donations then these can be done in Current Pays or One Off Pays.
If a "one off" or irregular donation is to be processed for an employee, the Payroll Giving deduction should be added to the Current Pay or One Off Pay being processed.
Once the Payroll Giving deduction has been processed in the Current Pay (or One Off Pay), the Payroll Giving Payment Advisor report can be used to report on the deductions being made.
Payment of the deductions to the Donee Organisations are the responsibility of the employer.
