Setting up payroll giving donee organisations (New Zealand)

Payroll Giving is a voluntary scheme that was introduced in 2010. The scheme allows employees to "give as they earn" by making donations directly from their pay to approved Donee organisations. For every dollar an employee donates, they receive a third back as a tax credit in the same pay period as the donation is being made.

Payroll Giving donations can only be made to Donee organisations that have Inland Revenue-approved donee status. To check if an organisation is an approved donee, visit the following IRD web page:

Any Donee organisations that employees want to donate to using the Payroll Giving Scheme must be set up in the MYOB Exo Payroll system before the donations can be processed.

To set up a payroll giving donee organisation
  1. Log into the Payroll Company that the Donee Organisation is to be setup in.
  2. Click on the Maintenance menu then select Payroll Giving Donees.
  3. Click on the Add:F4 button or press F4 to add a new Donee Organisation.
  4. The screen that appears will show the next available number in the Code field.
  5. Enter the name of the Organisation
  6. Click on Save:F10 or press F10 to save this organisation.
This Donee Organisation is now ready to be used in Payroll Giving Deductions.
