Holiday pay accrual not increasing after current pays are updated (New Zealand)

Employees on standard Annual Entitlements accrue Holiday Pay during their Holiday Year. Once the Holiday Anniversary Date is reached, representing the end of that Holiday Year, the Accrued Leave becomes Outstanding Leave and the next Holiday Year begins.

In the New Zealand version of MYOB Exo Payroll, Holiday Pay for an employee using standard Annual Entitlements accrues through the Holiday Year based on the "This Year Accrued To" date. Each time a Current Pay is updated the "This Year Accrued To" date moves to the next Current Pay's Pay Period Date.

If an employee's Accrued figure does not increase after a Current Pay has been updated, check the "This Year Accrued To" date for that employee to see if the date is showing the next Pay Period Date. If the date has not advanced, this is often due to an error occurring during the updating of the Current Pay or the "This Year Accrued To" field being blocked at that time from updating to the new date.

If the "This Year Accrued To" date has not advanced, the following options can assist:

  • Wait till the next Current Pay is processed. When that Current Pay is processed and updated, check the "This Year Accrued To" date to see if it has advanced to the following Current Pay's Pay Period Date.

If the date has advanced correctly then the Accrued figures will update appropriately, including the missing period as well.
  • Restore the backup taken when the Current Pay was updated so that the pay has become open then do the Update of that Current Pay again. Once the reopened Current Pay has been updated then check the "This Year Accrued To" date to make sure that it has advanced correctly.
