Adding a test company

The Login screen shows the companies that have been setup for access and processing. These companies include the default Demonstration company that MYOB has provided for testing along with any 'Test' companies that users may have setup.

Adding a test company

An option called "New Test Company" is available in the File menu. This option allows for the creation of a 'Test' company using the data of the 'Live' company that the user is logged into. Any of these 'Test' companies do not affect the Registration details as Registration will reflect only the 'Live' companies.

To add a test company
  1. Go to the File menu then click on the New Test Company option.
  2. Click on the Yes button in the message that appears.
  3. The Test company is created then click on OK which will take you back to the Login screen where you can log into the Test company.

The new 'Test' company will have the name of the 'Live' company, prefixed with "TEST_" as well as the data and configuration of the original company.

The data in the 'Test' company can be refreshed from the original 'Live' company by selecting the "Refresh Test Company" option in the File menu of the 'Test' company.

When a 'Test' company has been created, the Login screen will have a 'Display' field under the list of companies for selecting which type of companies are to appear in the list, i.e. 'Live and Demo Companies', 'Test Companies Only', 'All Companies', etc.

The following functions are not available in 'Test' companies:

  • Cannot edit the details on the Setup window of any module in the 'Test' company
  • Cannot restore a backup to a 'Test' company
  • Cannot generate a Direct Credit File from a 'Test' company
  • Cannot access the MyStaffInfo Management Console in a 'Test' company

All reports, including IRD reports, can be generated in the 'Test' company which is functionality that is not available in the Demonstration Company.

A 'Test' company cannot be created for the Demonstration Company.

If the above 'Test' company option cannot be used, users can setup a 'Test' company by adding a new company at the Login screen using the "Add:F4" button and restoring a backup from the 'Live' company. This company will affect the Registration details as the Payroll would treat it as a 'Live' company for registration purposes.
