Error 3: "File is in use"

Errors can occur when running the software due to many possible different causes such as:

  • corruption of data or files
  • changes made in the environment that the software has not been updated for
  • user's rights are setup incorrectly or have been changed

If an "Error 3 File is in use" message appears while using the Exo Employer Services software, such as while processing a pay, the following are options for correcting the situation:

  • Exit the software, restart the software, log in and try again
  • Restart the pc, start the software, log in and try again
  • Ignore through the errors to get into the company then do a File Reindex. Click here for assistance with running a File Reindex.
  • Exit from the software then run the network.exe file. Click here for assistance with running the network.exe file.
  • Exit from the software then perform a Force Upgrade. Click here for assistance with running the Force Upgrade.
