Error 11: "Function, Argument, Type or Count is invalid"

Errors can occur when running the software due to many possible different causes such as:

  • corruption of data or files
  • changes made in the environment that the software has not been updated for
  • user's rights are setup incorrectly or have been changed

When starting the software and an "Error 11 Function, Argument, Type or Count is invalid" message occurs, the options below can assist with correcting this situation.

  • Run the software by clicking on the main.exe file from the software install folder to see if the error occurs or the software starts up correctly.
  • Run the software by clicking on the comacc.exe file from the software install folder to see if the error occurs or the software starts up correctly.
  • Check the shortcut and make sure that the Target and Start in lines are pointing to the correct software location. The Target and Start In fields should be using the same path and if they are using incorrect paths then the shortcut needs to be corrected.
  • Delete the shortcut then run the network.exe file from the software install folder to reinstall the necessary files as well as recreating the shortcut. Click here for a Knowledge Base article that can assist with the running of the network.exe file.
  • Delete the comacc.exe and main.exe files from the software install folder. After deleting these files, reinstall the software over the existing install so that these files are reinstalled.

Below are the links to the Knowledge Base articles for the Australian and New Zealand versions, containing both the install file for the latest version of the software and instructions to assist with manually installing the software.
