Manually recording alternative leave accrual in EXO Payroll (New Zealand)

Alternative leave, formerly known as Time in Lieu, is a statutory entitlement that is accrued if an employee has worked on part or all of a Public Holiday, so long as that Public Holiday day would otherwise be a working day for the employee. The employee is to receive a day off that can be taken at a later date, in exchange for forgoing their statutory holiday.

If the employee would not normally have worked on the day that the Public Holiday falls then no Alternative Leave day is accrued.

If an employee works on a Public Holiday and fulfils the appropriate criteria then they are entitled to accrue an Alternative Leave day. MYOB Exo Payroll can record and process Alternative Leave through the processing of pays.

To record the alternative leave accrual
  1. Go to the open pay that is being processed for the employee who worked on the Public Holiday
  2. Edit the employee who is to accrue Alternative Leave
  3. Click on the Leave button on the left hand side of the screen
  4. Click on the Alternative button
  5. Enter the number of days in the Days Worked field that represents the Public Holidays that the employee has worked on. At this point the calendar should be marked with the days that were worked.
When the pay is updated the Alternative Leave balance for the employee is increased by the Days Worked figure.
