Payroll companies are missing or contain old information after installing an upgrade

At times MYOB will send out emails advising of an upgrade being available for MYOB EXO Payroll. It is advisable to upgrade your software so you are always up to date with the latest versions of EXO payroll. There are several methods to upgrade the software which are listed below.

There are three ways to upgrade software

  1. Using the "Upgrade Software" option from the Help menu allows the upgrade install to be run from an install file that has been saved in a location on the pc or on the server.
  2. The "Upgrade Software Online" option from the Help menu allows the upgrade install to be run from a file downloaded from a location accessed via the internet.
  3. Manually running an install of the software from an install file that has been placed in a location on the pc or on the server.

Methods 1 and 2 have been designed to install the upgrade to the location that the software is currently being run from. This ensures that the correct install of the software is upgraded.

If Method 3 is used, the location of the Payroll software needs to be specified in the Destination Folder field. The install program defaults the Destination Folder to C:\Payrollv. If C:\Payrollv is not the correct location for the software and it is not changed to the correct destination then the upgrade install will go to the wrong place. When the upgrade install completes then the next time the software is started it will be missing the payroll companies or the companies that are listed will often have old information.

When the upgrade has been done, if it is found that the payroll companies are missing (or the information is old) then the correct location of the software needs to be found. Once the correct location is known you can do either:

Method 3 - ensuring the Destination Folder is changed to the correct location

OR

Method 1 or Method 2 - having run the software from the correct location
