Checksum error message

When starting the software a Checksum Error message may occur. This normally happens after registration files have been put into the payroll and the software has been restarted.

When the registration files are initially created a calculated checksum number is assigned to the files. When the files are processed by the software, the software calculates a checksum number and compares that to the number that was in the registration files. If these numbers do not match then the Checksum Error occurs.

It is recommended that you contact MYOB Exo Support for further assistance with this message.

To fix the checksum error
  1. Go to the Registration screen by clicking OK on the Checksum Error. Check for any modules that have a Type of Demo. If there are any
  2. then click on the module, such as Time and Attendance, click on Register then click on Delete. Continue to do this for each Demo module. Once all modules have been deleted, exit the Registration screen then restart the software.
  3. If the Checksum Error message continues after doing 1) or there are no Demo modules in the Registration screen then you need to register the modules that are there. Register each module using the current registration code that can be found in CRM. When all modules have been registered, exit the Registration screen then restart the software.
  4. If after having performed both options above the message is still occurring recreate the registration files, test them in an install of the software to make sure they work ok then send the client those registration files.
  5. If the message is still appearing then have the client do a fresh install of the software, ensuring they only install the modules they are licensed for. After the install completes have the client run the software to make sure that it starts ok, exit the software then put the registration files into the payroll directory and restart the software.
