Zero PAYG being calculated (Australia)
MYOB Exo Payroll calculates PAYG as advised in the specification released each year by the ATO. The specification details the necessary calculations and other information required by the software companies that produce payroll software.
PAYG figures that are appearing in pays as being incorrect can be for different reasons such as the PAYG has been overridden in the pay. When the PAYG figure appears as $0 but it has not been overwritten, this is normally caused by the dates of the pay being incorrect.
To deal with incorrect PAYG, follow the options listed below:
- Confirm that the PAYG has not been overwritten in the pay for the employee. If the PAYG is showing $0 for all employees, then it is unlikely that the PAYG has been overwritten for every employee and it is most likely that the dates are incorrect.
- Check the dates of the pay, especially the year. If the dates are incorrect then they will need to be corrected. This can be done as detailed below.
For current pays
- Clear the pay of each employee, update the empty Current Pay then recreate the pay with the correct dates. To do this, edit each employee then click on the Reset button, select 'Clear this employee's Current Pay' then click on OK. This must be done for each employee in the Current Pay. Print a Paysheet report to make sure that the Current Pay is empty then update the pay. Once the update has completed then recreate the Current Pay with the correct dates.
Restore to a backup taken before the Current Pay was created with the incorrect dates. Once the restore has completed, correct the dates then create the Current Pay. If the previous pay has become open again then update that pay before creating the new Current Pay with the correct dates.

For one-off pays
- Delete the One Off Pay then recreate it with the correct dates.
