Performing a force upgrade

When a new version of MYOB Exo Employer Services software is released an upgrade of the existing installation of the software is performed. The upgrade makes changes to the existing files and data so that they are consistent with the changes in the latest version.

If the upgrade process is interrupted in any way then errors or other situations can occur when using the software. This is due to the upgrade process having been interrupted and has not been able to complete correctly.

When running the MYOB Exo Employer Services software and situations occur that require the upgrade process to be run again, a "Force Upgrade" is then performed.

A "Force Upgrade" can be run to correct errors and other situations even if an upgrade has not been performed recently.
To perform a force upgrade
Before the Force Upgrade is started, make sure that all other users are logged out of Exo Payroll.
  1. While in a payroll company click on the Help menu then select About. In the About screen, click on the Support button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. On the Support screen that appears is another button called Force Upgrade in the middle of the page. Click on this button then, on the next screen that appears, click on the Yes button then click on OK on the next message.
  3. After accepting the messages click on Exit to get out of the Support Diagnostics screen then exit out of the software completely.
  4. Start the MYOB Exo Employer Services software and the Upgrade Software screen will appear. On this screen select the companies that are to have a backup taken at the start of the upgrade process. After selecting the companies then click on Upgrade Now to run the upgrade.
  5. Once the upgrade has completed the Login screen will appear. Log into the company and continuing using the software as normal.
