Error 1520: "No database is open or set as the current database"
Errors can occur when running the software due to many possible different causes such as:
- corruption of data or files
- changes made in the environment that the software has not been updated for
- user's rights are setup incorrectly or have been changed
When running the "Upgrade Software Online" option and an "Error 1520 No database is open or set as the current database" message occurs, initially click on the "Exit Software" to close the software then restart the software and try using the "Upgrade Software Online" option again.
If the Error 1520 reoccurs then a manual upgrade of the software will need to be done.
Below are the links to the Knowledge Base articles for the Australian and New Zealand versions, containing both the install file for the latest version of the software and instructions to assist with manually installing the software.

The manual install process will reinstall the software over the existing installation. If this does not work and the error continues then a new, fresh install of the software will need to be done using the same install files as were used for the manual upgrade installation.
Once the new, fresh install has been done then add the "payroll" company at the Login screen and restore a company backup to get the appropriate data into that company. Repeat this process for each "payroll" company that existed in the original, problem install.
