Getting a "The version of MYOB software you are running is not compatible with your data" message

The MYOB Exo Employer Services Software is effectively comprised of two parts - the program and the company data. For the software to operate correctly, the two parts should be of the same version.

When starting the MYOB Exo Employer Services Software, the message "The version of MYOB software you are running is not compatible with your data" may appear. This message normally occurs after a backup that was taken in one version of the software has been restored to an older version of the software.

Resolving the message

You'll need to install the latest version of the software over the existing installation. For help with manually upgrading EXO Employer Services, you can read the help pages for Australia and New Zealand.

If the message continues, make sure the software has been closed then delete the Environ.dbf file that can be found in the software directory. Restart the software after the file has been deleted and the Login screen should appear without the message occurring.

Deleting the Environ.dbf file will remove the settings for the backup options in the software. Once the software has been restarted, login to a company then go to the Utilities menu, select Backup Options then proceed through setting up the options.

Need more help? You can open the online help by pressing F1 on your keyboard while in your software.

You can also find more help resources on the MYOB Exo Employer Services Education Centre for Australia or New Zealand.
