Errors appearing in summary report when emailing payslips (New Zealand)

MYOB Exo Payroll has the ability to send payslips to employees via email. The emails are sent via the mail server used by the company. When an email is sent from programs such as Outlook, the mail server tries to verify the user name and password of the sender. This information is contained in the email being sent.

Depending on how the Email Connection details have been setup, the email payslips sent from MYOB Exo Payroll may not contain the information required by the mail server for verifying the emails being sent.

When running the Payslip - Emailing Wizard or Payslip Custom reports, a summary report details the success or not of what has been done. If the emails do not contain the authentication information required by the mail server, the summary report may show error numbers such as #334 or #550 for each employee whose payslip is being emailed.

To stop these error numbers from occurring and to get the payslips emailed to the employees based on the current settings, relaying would need to be turned on at the mail server for the pc that is trying to send the email payslips. If there is more than one pc that can be used for running the email payslips report, then each pc must be setup for relaying on the mail server. It is recommended that your IT person is contacted for setting up the relaying on the mail server for each pc.

If relaying is not to be used, the Email Connection details would need to be updated with the appropriate details for the company.
