Understanding single touch payroll (Australia)

Single Touch Payroll is an ATO requirement which will change the way you report payroll payments, including:

  • salaries and wages
  • pay as you go (PAYG) withholding
  • superannuation information

It’ll simplify your ATO reporting because you’ll be able to do it directly from your payroll software when you pay your employees.

EOFY will now be a breeze, because it will be replaced by this STP change - no more payment summaries.

  • Once you have done your headcount - even if you are paying 19 or fewer staff you can choose to adopt STP - but for these business this will only become mandatory from 01 July 2019.
