Running a file reindex

In the Exo Employer Services software, many tables consist of two files - the .cdx and .dbf files and in some cases can include a third file - the .fpt file. These files are "linked" together so whenever data in the file is updated then all of these related files update.

Sometimes the links between the files can become "confused" which can contribute to problems occurring in the software such as errors. Running a File Reindex resets the links between these files.

A File Reindex is done for the "company" that the user is logged into. When there are multiple "companies" in the Login screen, if necessary this process would need to be repeated for each "company". The process is as shown below:

To run a file reindex
  1. Ensure that all other users are logged out of the software.
  2. Click on the Utilities menu then select File Reindex
  3. Click Yes on the message that appears if a File Reindex is to be done and all other users have logged out of the software.
  4. Click on the Backup button for the backup to be made.

The Backup must be done for the File Reindex to proceed. If the Backup is not done or does not complete correctly then the File Reindex will not continue.
  5. Once the Backup has completed then the File Reindex process will proceed.
  6. Once the process has completed, click on the OK button in the "File reindex complete" message that appears.
