Known issue 2013.05: Windows event log for email payslips not working on newer operating systems

The following issue has been identified and subsequently replicated by MYOB Support in Exo Employer Services version 2013.05 and applies to AU and NZ Payroll.

Issue

Support has confirmed that the Windows Event Log feature for the email payslip process won't work out of the box for newer operating systems like Windows 8.1 or Windows Server which comes with the .Net framework 4.5 version.

The user will need to manually enable .Net framework 3.5 (includes .Net 2.0 and 3.0) using the Programs and Features option using Windows Control Panel as described in the below URL.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh506443.aspx

If the .Net framework 3.5 is not enabled the application will still work fine but it won't successfully create any Windows event logs.

This has been checked in Windows XP as well and works well without the .Net framework but to create logs it needs the .Net framework.

Please note Windows XP environments are no longer supported by MYOB.

Workaround

Manually enable .Net framework 3.5 using the Programs and Features option through Windows Control Panel.
