Known issue 2013.02 (resolved): HELP being incorrectly calculated on unused leave in terminations (Australia)
The following issue has been identified and subsequently replicated by MYOB Support in Exo Employer Services version 2013.02 and applies to AU Payroll.
Issue
Support has confirmed that when an employee with a tax classification of Standard with HELP is being terminated, the system calculates HELP in the marginal tax calculation on the unused leave amount which it should not be doing.
The ATO tax tables specify that there is to be no HELP or SFSS amounts withheld from lump sum termination payments and to use PAYG tables when doing the marginal rate calculation.
Workaround
Override the PAYG amount or alter the figure in the "Average pay (for marginal tax calculations)" field or alter the employees Tax Classification to Standard Pay, removing the HELP component.
Resolution
This issue has been progressed through to Product Development via parent ticket 13556728017, has been created. Resolved in version 2013.05
