3. Installing Adapt Uploader

If you’re not migrating from MYOB Exo Business and Exo Employer Services, you can skip to reviewing data and uploading it to MYOB Advanced.

After adding a customer's migration information to the MYOB Adapt online portal, you need to download Adapt Uploader.

Adapt Uploader extracts data from your customer's source product and adds it to the Adapt staging database. This database is the connector between your customer's new MYOB Advanced site and Adapt Desktop, which you'll use to edit your customer's data.

You can extract data as many times as many times as you need throughout a migration.

For payroll migrations, there are some extra steps you need to follow to make sure you can correctly extract all your customer’s data.

Install Adapt Uploader

Install Adapt Uploader to the computer that you’ll use to work on the migration.

  1. Log in to the MYOB Adapt online portal.

  2. On the left, click Downloads. The Files to Download page opens.

  3. Click AdaptUploaderInstaller.exe to download the Adapt Uploader installation file.

To prevent errors when using this file, make sure that the name of the file you downloaded matches the name on the MYOB Adapt online portal. For example, if you've previously downloaded the Adapt Uploader file, it might be named AdaptUploaderInstaller (1).exe. In that case, you should rename it to AdaptUploaderInstaller.exe.

  4. Open the AdaptUploaderInstaller.exe file.

  5. Follow the prompts to install Adapt Uploader.

Payroll migrations

Install the OLEDB driver

For payroll migrations, you need to install an OLEDB driver for Visual FoxPro. Install this to the computer that you’ll use to work on the migration. You’ll also need to install Adapt Uploader to the same computer.

This ensures that Adapt Uploader and Adapt Desktop work correctly.

  1. Log in to the MYOB Adapt online portal.

  2. On the left, click Downloads. The Files to Download page opens.

  3. Click vfpoledb.exe to download the Visual FoxPro OLEDB driver.

To prevent errors when using this file, make sure that the name of the file you downloaded matches the name on the MYOB Adapt online portal. For example, if you've previously downloaded the Adapt Uploader file, it might be named vfpoledb (1).exe. In that case, you should rename it to vfpoledb.exe.

  4. Open the vfpoledb.exe file.

  5. Follow the prompts to install the Visual FoxPro OLEDB driver.

Install the Special menu for extracting leave (Exo ES NZ only)

For migrations from MYOB Exo Employer Services New Zealand, you need to add the Special menu option to Exo Employer Services. Make sure you install it to the computer that you’ll use to work on the migration.

The Special menu lets you extract leave data as Microsoft Excel files. You’ll need these files to add leave data to Adapt Desktop, specifically for the progress items Leave (Exo ES Excel Export) and DVL Leave (Exo ES Excel Export).

For details on how and when to use the Special menu, see the instructions in the Adapt Desktop progress items.

  1. Log in to the MYOB Adapt online portal.

  2. On the left, click Downloads. The Files to Download page opens.

  3. Copy this zip file to the folder where MYOB Exo Employer Services NZ is installed (for example, C:\PayrollV).

  4. Unzip the file es_adv.zip in the MYBO Exo Employer Services NZ folder.
After unzipping the files, the Special menu is available in MYOB Exo Employer Services New Zealand.
