Customising segmented keys

After installing Adapt Uploader, the first thing you should do is customise segmented keys for the migration.

  • For payroll migrations, you can customise employees and positions. To keep track of the different IDs for an employee in the customer’s source product compared to Adapt Desktop, you can use the Employee Code Map progress item.

  • For ERP migrations, you can customise suppliers and customers.

For example, maybe your customer has two sites for their source product which you’re migrating into one MYOB Acumatica site. They might want employee IDs to reflect which site employees were migrated from.

At the top right of Adapt Uploader, click the Current Migration Settings button to open the Migration Settings screen.

The table on the left is where you can customise the different parts of a segmented key.

  • Prefix – A prefix can be up to 10 characters long. If you leave it empty, only numbers are used for the segmented key.

  • Total Length – This is how long the segmented key can be.

To avoid duplicate data, the Total Length shouldn’t be longer than the segmented key length setting in MYOB Acumatica. You need to decide the length and prefix before running the uploader, as changing it later requires you to rebuild the entire migraiton.

  • Offset – This is the number which the counting starts at. For example, if the offset is 0, the first segmented key ID will start with 1. If you set the offset to 1000, the first ID will be 1001. The default offset is 0.

The table on the right shows examples of how the segmented keys will look based on the settings you’ve entered.
