Setting up superannuation where only the employee contributes (not KiwiSaver related)

You may have a situation in which an employee wants to contribute to their Super fund with no contribution from the Employer.

To set this up you need to create a new post-tax deduction pay code.

To create the new deduction pay code
  1. Go to the Maintenance command centre and click Maintain Pay Codes.
  2. Click New.
  3. As the Pay Code Type, select Post-Tax Deduction.
  4. Specify a Pay Code. You can call it SUPER and then use the employee's initials to identify the code, for example SUPER-AB.
  5. Enter a Pay Code Description then click OK. The new pay code will now be listed.

Treat this deduction as you would any other deduction in Payroll and arrange for the payment to go to the employee's selected superannuation company. There is no ESCT portion as this is deducted by the company managing the fund.
