MYOB Payroll 2023.1 updates the ACC earner levy rate and student loan thresholds for the 2023 to 2024 financial year.
Installing your upgrade
Before upgrading, we recommend you back up your data file to an external drive, and close any open programs.
You may need to be logged into Windows as an administrator to install the upgrade.
Download and install the upgrade
- Log in to your my.MYOB account.
- Go to My Products > Download.
- In the list of available software, click MYOB Payroll to download the installer file.
- Double-click the install file.
The installer opens. - Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- When the installation is complete, restart your computer.
Check your software is up to date
- Start MYOB Payroll.
- Press Ctrl+R to open the Payroll Version window.
- Check that the version number is 2023.1.
If the version number has not updated, see our troubleshooting tips below.
Upgrade troubleshooting
Try these steps if you there any errors when installing the upgrade.
- Try disabling your antivirus software until the installation is complete.
- Check that there are no yellow exclamation marks in the Windows Device Manager (right click My Computer and go to the Properties > Hardware tab). Resolve any conflicts and try installing again.
- Make sure your Windows font size is set to Normal (right click the Windows desktop and go to the Properties > Appearance tab).
- If an error appears that relates to installing *.OCX files, click OK and start the installation again.

Default passwords for new companies and demo company
To improve security, we've added a default password to the demo company, as well as any new companies created in version 2023.1 and later.
The default password is Admin. We recommend changing it for any newly created company databases.
Existing databases unaffected The new default password does not apply to any existing payroll files, they will keep their existing passwords, even if they do not have one. Only newly created files and the demo company will have the new default password added.
