Missing bank feed transactions

If some of your bank feed transactions are missing from MYOB Exo Business, you have two options:

  • Import the missing transactions as a CSV file. This is the option explained on this page.

  • If only a few transactions missing, you might find it easier to manually add them to Exo Business than to use a CSV file.

One of the main causes of missing transactions is that some banks are transitioning from legacy SFTP-based bank feeds to modern API-based feeds. Transactions are most likely to get missed when the SFTP bank feeds are cut off completely. For example, BNZ is planning to switch from SFTP to API feeds by the end of 2025, which could potentially lead to missing or duplicate transactions.

1. Configure how Exo Business formats CSV files

  1. Open the Bank Formats screen in either Exo Config or Exo Finance:

    • Exo Config – Click Admin on the toolbar, and go to Banks > Bank Formats (Reconciliation).

    • Exo Finance – Go to Account > Bank Reconciliation. Then, on the Bank Reconciliation screen, go to Setup > Bank Formats.

  2. On the Bank Formats screen, click New on the toolbar.

  3. Set the fields (except for GL bank account number and payee name, which are always present):

    • Format no to 1

    • Transaction date to 1

    • Total to 2

    • Reference to 6 (optional)

    • Particulars to 4 (optional)

    • Details to 3.

  4. On the toolbar, Save your changes.

2. Prepare the CSV file from your financial institution

To avoid duplicate transactions, you need to edit the CSV file from your financial institution before importing it into Exo Business.

  1. Log in to your financial institution.

  2. Download your bank statement as a CSV file.

  3. Open the CSV file in Microsoft Excel and ensure it contains the following fields:

    • Date, Amount, Payee, Particulars, Code, Reference, Tran Type, This Party Account, Other Party Account, Serial, Transaction Code, Batch Number, Originating Bank/Branch

If any of the fields are missing, check with your financial institution to see if you can change which fields are included in your bank statement.

  4. Find any transactions in the CSV file that have the same in date, amount and reference as transactions already imported in Exo Business.
For help with BNZ transactions, see Finding and filtering transactions on the BNZ website.

  5. Delete the duplicate transactions from the CSV file.

After deleting all duplicates, you’re ready to import it into Exo Business.

3. Import the CSV file into Exo Business

For more detailed instructions, see Setting Up a CSV Reconciliation in the online help.

  1. In Exo Finance, go to Account > Bank Reconciliation.
