New features

Improved password security

To make your payroll data more secure, we've added new requirements to the passwords you use to log in to MYOB Exo Employer Services. Passwords now need to be a minimum of 14 characters long, and include at least one letter, one number and one of the following symbols: @ # $ % ^ * ( ) { } | \ ; : " ' [ ] / ? -.

You need to make these changes by April 30. We've included warning messages in the software to help you with the process, but any logins that haven't had their password updated by then will stop working.

To update your password go to User Security > Details, and click Change Password.

Secure email payslips

Microsoft is planning to phase out basic authentication of emails sent via SMTP. To make sure you can continue to email payslips securely, we've added the option to send them via a secure and reliable MYOB email server.

To send emails via the MYOB email server, select the MYOB Email Server option on the Email Setup screen. You can open the Email Setup screen from the Special Options Setup screen.

When using the MYOB email server, you need to complete the Sender name and Reply to (email address) fields.

Delete open pays

To make it easier to re-enter pays, we've added the ability to delete current open pays of all pay frequencies.

Deleted pays will be added to the eventlog table for auditing purposes, and any entered leave will be cleared. To delete current pays, users need the Update Pay security permission.

More obvious public holidays on the leave calendar

To prevent employees from wasting their leave on public holidays, the calendar now lets you know if you enter leave for a public holiday date.

And when setting a date as a public holiday, the calendar lets you know if that date isn't actually a public holiday.

Minor improvements
  • To help ensure an employee's final pay is correct, you now see a warning if you make changes to an employee's pay while they're being terminated. If you need to make changes: undo the termination, make your changes, then reprocess the termination.
  • When emailing payslips, you now see a warning. We don't recommend emails to be sent from more than one instance of MYOB Exo Employer Services at a time.
  • On the Shift Leave Setup and Other Leave Setup screen, the Value as Sick Leave option is now called Value as FBAPS Leave.
  • On the Leave Management Setup screen, the Use company anniversary date as holiday entitlement date field is now called Use nominated anniversary date as holiday entitlement date.
  • On the Pay Details screen, you can now choose to display wage hours by adding two new columns: This Pay Wage Hours and Standard Pay Wage Hours. This makes it easier to compare imported hours with standard hours and gives you more context when importing leave requests against normal hours worked.
  • When running the Allowances report or exporting it as a CSV file, you can choose to include the KiwiSaver Exempt Income Type.
  • Bank numbers starting with 04 are now accepted for employee direct credit bank accounts.
