Report Filters

Filters provide a way of narrowing down your query, so that there is less data to look at.

Select Step 5 from the Report Writer Setup Cycle to open the filters window:

Click the Add button to add a filter condition. A list will appear, containing all of the data items pertaining to the view/category that you are in:

To set a filter
  1. Select the field to filter by from the box on the left

  2. Select the method of filtering from the middle box.

  3. Either:

    1. Enter a value into the box on the right.

    2. Tick the Ask Later option - this means you will be prompted to enter a value each time the report is run.

  4. Click Save or press F10 to save the filter.

For example, to filter the report to show all employees whose last name starts with "A":

  • Select "Staff Last Name" from the box on the left
  • Select "Begins with" from the middle box
  • Enter "A" (without quotes) into the box on the right.
