Adding breaks to shifts and timesheets automatically

To help you stay compliant with company-wide standardised break times, you can set up the Automatic Breaks feature to add them by default. Automatic breaks are determined by the shift duration, and can be added automatically to shifts, timesheets, or both. They can always be overridden on an individual shift or timesheet basis.

Setting up automatic breaks
  1. Go to  Management > Company Settings > Rounding Rules.

  2. Select where you want automatic breaks to be added from the Auto Break drop-down menu:

    • Disabled

    • Shift

    • Timesheet

    • Timesheet & Shift

  3. Set the length and frequency of the breaks:

    • Break duration: How long each break is.

    • Every hour: The frequency of breaks – shifts will have one break added for every x hours in length, rounded down.

In this example, a single 20 minute break would be added to a 4 hour shift, and two to a 6 hour shift. All shifts will have at least one break added.

  4. Click Save.

Break Timing calculations:

The settings for “Every X Hours” define how long the automatic break is, not the time of the break or number of breaks.

The automatic break is given at the exact midpoint of the shift.
