Putting the System into Lockout Mode Before Restoring a Snapshot in MYOB Acumatica

This article explains how to place MYOB Acumatica into lockout mode before performing a snapshot restore. Lockout mode ensures that no other users are making changes while system data is being restored.

Before starting:

  • User roles: Ensure your user has the Lockout Manager and/or Snapshot User roles.

    • Only users with these roles can perform snapshot operations and log in while the system is locked.

  • Tenant selection: Plan to work from a different tenant than the one you’re restoring to.

    • This helps prevent the UI from freezing during the restore process.

Step 1: Lock Out the System

  1. Go to the Schedule Lockout screen (MBSM2035).

  2. Set the Lockout Start Time at least 20 minutes in the future.

    1. This delay is required before lockout becomes active.

  3. Choose a Lockout Reason:

    1. Snapshots: Only users with the Lockout Manager or Snapshot User roles can log in.

    2. Other: Only users with the Lockout Manager role can log in.

  4. Click Lock System.

    1. The status changes to Lockout Pending, and a banner appears to notify logged-in users to save their work and log out before the start time.

The built-in admin account is not affected by this lockout mechanism. It uses the Apply Updates process instead and should not be used for day-to-day snapshot operations.

Step 2: (Optional) Accelerate the Lockout (Advanced Use)

  Advanced / Internal Use Only

This step should only be performed on internal or demo environments where database updates are permitted.

If you can’t wait 20 minutes for the scheduled start time, you can manually bring the lockout forward by updating the timestamp directly in the database.

Example query:

CODE
UPDATE UPLock SET Date = '2024-06-23 03:50:00.000';

Step 3: Perform the Snapshot Restore

Once the lockout has started:

  1. Go to Tenants (SM203520).

  2. Perform the Restore Snapshot action while logged in to a different tenant than the one being overwritten.

Step 4: End the Lockout

After completing the restore:

  1. Return to the Schedule Lockout screen (MBSM2035).

  2. Click Unlock to allow all users to log back in.

Permissions to unlock:

  • Lockout Manager: Can end any lockout.

  • Snapshot User: Can end Snapshots lockouts only.
