Anzac Day - special rules for the public holiday
Anzac Day is always the 25th of April. The day of the week that this falls on changes by year, and there are special rules for this public holiday.
- When Anzac Day falls on a weekday (Monday to Friday), that day is treated as a public holiday.
- When Anzac Day falls on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday) and your employee does not usually work on that day, the holiday transfers to the following Monday.
- When Anzac Day falls on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday) and your employee does usually work on that day, that day is the holiday for them.
The rules for Anzac Day are set out in section 45A of the Holidays Act 2003.
